David Hartnett, 77, of 1312 Ferry, retired railroad switchman, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Scott nursing home after an illness of a year.
Born at Lafayette, he was employed for several years as a switchman for the Monon railroad and later was a Nickel Plate railroad switchman at Frankfort. He was a member of St. Mary cathedral and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving are a son, David Hartnett Jr. of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bossung of West Lafayette and Mrs. Mildred Shoemaker of Cleveland; two stepsons, Raymond Moore and Luther Taley, both of Frankfort, and a sister, Mrs. Mary E. Davis of Lafayette.
