Mrs. Sarah Martin Duggan, 93, a lifelong resident of the borough, who was "proud of her family", which included eight children, 34 grandchildren and 54 great-grand children, dies Monday at the home of her son, Manus, maintenance man at Kings County Hospital, with whom she lived at 1301 Rogers Ave.

The "grand old lady with the million dollar smile" as she was know in her community, was particularly proud of her grandsons and great-grandsons serving with the armed forces, four of whom are now overseas. One of her brothers, Edward Martin, served in the Civil War, and another, George, was in the Spanish-American War.

Mrs. Duggan was born Dec. 6, 1850 in South Brooklyn, and was married at 18 in St. Mary Star of the Sea R. C. Church. Her husband, the late Joseph J. Duggan, was a conductor on the 7th Ave. horsecar line and later became a chief clerk in the Surrogate's Court. He died in 1888 and his widow, left with eight children, became a maternity nurse.

Besides Manus, there is another son, Joseph, a city fireman, and four daughters, Mrs. Carries Dukes, Mrs. Laura Baker of Freeport, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of North Bellmore and Mrs. May Ganns of Waukegan, Illinois.

A sister, Mrs. Caroline McClymont, widow of Fire Department Capt. David McClymont, lives in the Park Slope section, and a brother, DeWitt Martin, lives in Easton, Pa.

The funeral will be held Friday from the Walter B. Cooke Funeral Home, Avenue D and Flatbush Ave., with a requiem madd is St. Jerome's R. C. Church. Newkirk and Nostrand Aves. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
