BLUE – Lavina Elizabeth, 100, Johnstown, passed away Sept. 20, 2014, at the Harmony House. Born March 6, 1914, in Johnstown, daughter of Thomas Sr. and Lavina (Eggeson) Dabbs. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Dwight B. Sr.; sons, Dwight Jr. and David; and brothers, Theodore, Thomas Jr., Albert, Merle and Eddie. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by daughters-in-law, Barbara (Furlong ) Blue, Johnstown, and Sally (Sorber) Blue, Hooversville; grandchildren, Rick, married to Marsha, Johnstown; Patricia, Virginia Beach, Va.; and AnnaMarie, married to Tom Apple, Monroeville; and great-granddaughter, Amber Lynn Blue. She was a member of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, where she served as a deaconess, was a member of the choir and served on various church board committees. She was a member of Westmont Bowling League and Senior Citizens of Westmont. She and her husband started Blue’s Fire Extinguisher Service in 1956. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a deacon service at 5:30, at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Brian Simmons, officiating. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grane Hospice Inc. or Roxbury Church of the Brethren.
