Our Soldiers in the Great Southern Star (Leongatha) of Jun. 5, 1917: A telegram was received last week by Mrs John Cashin, of Tarwin Lower, stating that her son, Lance-Corporal H. C. Taylor, was reported missing on 3-5-17, somewhere in France. He left Australia two years ago, and his luck seemed to stick to him until recently. He was in an advance some time about February, when he was blown in the air with a shell, escaping with only a shock, his two mates being killed. He served at Gallipoli, was at the evacuation, and was on the "Southland " when it was torpedoed.
