The friends of Mr. John Thomas Cashin, of Tarwin Lower, will be pained to hear of his death, which took place at Dr. Stirling's private hospital, Melbourne, on Sunday morning last. He left his home five weeks ago for a holiday. On the 6th July he saw his wife and family off by the train for Sale, and in the after noon he went out to Flemington to see the Grand National Hurdle Race. He became ill on the course, and getting worse when he returned to his hotel, Dr. Stirling was summoned, who advised his removal to the private hospital. The following week an operation was performed, after which the patient progressed favorably until Thurs- day night last, when he took a turn for the worse, and became unconscious, from which he never rallied, and passed peacefully away on Sunday morning. Besides Dr. Stirling, the deceased had in attendance Dr. Cole and Dr. Embling, and also, two trained nurses, but their services were unavailing, The immediate cause of death was pleurisy and pneumonia.
