OBITUARY: ARTHUR BOONE

Fort Smith Times Record, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Monday 24 July 1939

"Arthur Boone, 35 years old, Hackett, Ark., assistant foreman of the Reeves No. 1 coal mine at Excelsior, Ark., died at 4:40 a.m. Monday at a local hospital after a serious illness of two weeks. He had been in bad health three years.

Mr. Boone is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie May Boone; two daughters, Catherine and Dorothy Boone, Hackett; three sons, Ward, Almond and William Lee Boone, Hackett; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Boone, Hackett; three sisters, Mrs. Alta Raburn, Muskogee, Okla., Mrs. Marie Newton, Hackett, and Mrs. Beatrice Williams, Greenwood, Ark.; and four brothers, Earl Boone, Excelsior, Orville Boone, Hackett, and Granville and Herschell Boone, both of Mansfield, Ark.

Mr. Boone was a member of the Excelsior Baptist church, and of Amity lodge No. 267, Masons, at Hackett.

The body was to be taken to his residence from the Putman Funeral home at 4 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Hill church near Hackett. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill cemetery. A Masonic service will be conducted at the cemetery."
