Obituary in The Lufkin Daily News, August 15, 1995

Graveside services for Billie M. LaRocca, 86, will be held at 5:30 p.m. today in Zavalla Cemetery.

Mrs. LaRocca was born April 28, 1909 in Angelina County and died August 14, 1995 in Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin. She was one of nine children born to Marion Edger and Sarah Elizabeth Fann, life long residents of Angelina County. Her husband, Samuel J. LaRocca of Beaumont, preceded her in death in October 1959.

Aside from Shawnee Switch, Mrs. LaRocca spent various phases of her life in Beaumont, Kaufman, Pasadena and Tyler. She was a certified registered beautician and owned and operated her shop in Kaufman from the last 1940's through the early 1960's prior to moving to Pasadena. After retiring as a beautician, she rounded out her working life as a nurses' aide in various Tyler hospitals before moving to Huntington, where she resided prior to her illness.

Survivors include ..
- Sons: Sam J. LaRocca, Jr. of Houston and Victor LaRocca of Sunnyvale, Calif.
- Sister: Dorothy Baker of Lufkin
- 6 grandchildren, Mary Coronado, Katherine Chittenden, David LaRocca, Elizabeth LaRocca, Mark LaRocca and Jennifer LaRocca
- 4 great-grandchildren
- A number of nieces and nephews

Next to nurturing family and friends, Billie loved to cook and garden. She wanted her flowers, however, while she could see touch and smell them. Consequently, the family requests those wishing to, may make donations to the Billie M. LaRocca Memorial, St. Patrick's School, Lufkin, Tx., or to a charity of their choice.
