August 22, 1948 - August 21, 2012

Darlene M. Kremer-White, 63, of Rapid City and formerly of Worthington, MN went home to be with her Lord & Savior on August 21, 2012 at the Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House. Darlene was born on August 22, 1948 at Worthington, MN to James Emett Burns and Agnes Threse Baumgard. She grew up on the family farm near Brewster, MN prior to the death of her Father. The family then located to Worthington, MN where she graduated from Worthington Senior High School in 1966. She graduated in 1968 from the Secretarial Training Program at Worthington Community College. She was united in marriage to "A.K." and to this union three children were born. They later divorced in 1983. Consolidated Coop and Great Plains Gas Company gainfully employed her prior to obtaining her Life & Health Insurance License. She enjoyed her private insurance practice earning many company awards and her LUTCF designation. She moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1998 and was employed by Pioneer Enterprises as a funeral counselor. She was promoted by the firm and transferred to Rapid City, SD July 25, 2000. She worked at Kirk Funeral Home as a Licensed Preplanning Specialist. Darlene retired from her job at Kirk Funeral Home in December of 2011. She was united in marriage to "J.W." March 8, 2003. They enjoyed their life together. Darlene and her husband were members of Parkview Evangelical Free Church and served for many years as ushers. They loved to travel throughout the US and made many trips visiting their grandchildren whom are spread out across the nation. She was a member of Women's Network, Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Gift Shop. Darlene was an organized person who enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening as well and music and reading. Survivors include her beloved husband; her three children; two stepsons; her eleven grandchildren; her 4 surviving siblings; 2 sisters-in-law; and brother-in-law. Numerous nephews and nieces as well as many friends survive her. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, James and Agnes Burns, and siblings, Marcella, Arlene, Gene, and Donald Burns and Marlys Burmeister. Her god son, Jeffrey J. Zeiner and great nephew Gavin Kruse also preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm with a prayer service at 4pm on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City. Services will be at 10am on Monday, August 27 at Parkview Evangelical Free Church, 333 Sandra Lane, in Rapid City with Pastor Dave Greenhood officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm with a prayer service at 7pm on Thursday, August 30 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN with Pastor Joe Behnke officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Evangelical Free building fund, Mission of Mercy, Operation Christmas Child, and Hospice of the Hills.
