CARMELA (Damiano) ELDER

Retired Chelsea City Hall employee, she passed away on Sunday October 26th at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a short illness.

She was 88 years of age.

Born and raised in Chelsea she was the beloved daughter of the late Vito and Anna (Palladino) Damiano.

She attended local schools and was graduated from Chelsea High School.

She began working at Chelsea City Hall as a young lady where she was introduced to her future husband Harold B. Elder.

She soon married and began to raise her family.

In the early 60’s she also worked as an office secretary in a downtown Chelsea dentist practice.
For many years Millie was the very familiar Secretary at the local Veteran Services Office.
During her tenure there she worked for four separate Directors assisting local veterans and their families.
She also worked for Massport and the Chelsea Police Dept.
Traffic Bureau before taking her full retirement.

Millie was widowed in 1966 with the passing of her beloved husband Harold, in addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Jamie Ann Elder in 2013 and years earlier by her sister Frances Prezioso and her husband Ronald.

She is survived by her loving son Harold B. “Poncho” Elder, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Chelsea.

She was the dear sister of Anna Tiro and her husband Anthony “Chubby” of Saugus.
Cherished grandmother of Amy Ann of Reading, Michelle and her husband John of Lynn and adored great grandmother of Brandon, Jackson and Makayla, Madison and Siobhan.

Her Funeral will begin from the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Friday, October 31st at 9:00 A.M.
Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway Chelsea at 10:00 A.M.
Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
