Born in County Cork, Ireland to William Corcoran and Ellen nee Crowley. She left Ireland and settled in Massachusetts where she met William Cashman. They were married in Boston. In 1849-1850 they removed to the Town of Rockland in Brown County, Wisconsin where they farmed and raised their family.

Nine known children were born to them. The first two children were born in Massachusetts, and seven more children were born in Brown, County, Wisconsin.

Hannah's sister Julia was married to William Cashman's brother John Cashman.
