Dispatch - Tuesday - November 27, 1928
Donald B. Gibson, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Gibson, 1504 Twenty-ninth street, Rock Island, died at 2:30 this morning in St. Anthony's hospital. Peritonities that followed an operation undergone last Wednesday caused death.
The youth's father is a member of the Rock Island Fire Department. Donald was a member of Templar chapter, Order of DeMolay, and formerly played on the Franklin junior high school football team. He had attended Franklin school and Rock Island high.
Born in Rock Island on Feb. 21, 1909, the youth had made his home there during his entire life. He was a member of the First Methodist church of Rock Island.
Surviving besides the parents are the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sophie Lorentzen of Rock Island, and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Josephine M. Gibson of Chicago.

Funeral services for Donald B. Gibson, 19 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Gibson, 1504 Twenty-ninth street, Rock Island, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the home. Rev. Joseph A. Chapman, pastor of First Methodist church, officiated, and interment was in Memorial Park cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of Templar chapter, Order of De Molay, of which the youth was a member. They were George Turner, Dean Ingersoll, Noda Nielson, Curtis Hogberg, Howard Carlson and Frank W. Canedy.
