Obituary:
William Morden, an old resident of Carlisle, died at the residence of his son George Morden in the village of Carlisle yesterday on the 22nd day of February 1905. William was 85 years of age and had been in ill health for a short time. Mrs. Morden (Phoebe Baker) died last July (1904) and since that time Mr. Morden had not been in the best of health. They had been married just short of 64 years. William had been a resident of that part of the country for many years and had a large number of warm friends who will be sorry to know he has passed away. The funeral will take place on Saturday in Millgrove, with burial at the Millgrove Municipal Cemetery.

William Morden built his house and kept a store in the old Bullock Block. He was also Postmaster for a number of years and ran the Bullock Hotel for a period in the 1870's. The Morden home, was one of the beauty spots of the neighbourhood in the last century. The farm was cut out of the forest of East Flamborough township in the mid 1800's. It was here on Lot 8, Concession 7 that William and his wife Phoebe raised their family of 10 children (6 sons and 4 daughters).
