Walter Curtis Murr “Happy” age 90 of Loudon, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014.
Curtis was a longtime member and served as Deacon at Loudon First Baptist Church. He was a veteran serving in the US Navy during WWII. Early in his career he worked with Bacon Hosiery Mill as a Supervisor and later retired from Genesco. Curtis never wanted to sit idle so he joined the Loudon Fire Department where he served many years until his retirement in 1988. In addition, he and wife, Frankie ran a community grocery store called the C & F Grocery. Curtis was friendly and out-going with a big grin for all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David D. Murr, Sr. and Bulah Bisplinghoff Murr; sister, Alene Murr Lance and beloved wife of 62 years, Frankie Farmer Murr.
Survivors include son and daughter in-law, Monte and Sherry Murr, Lenoir City; granddaughters and spouses, Traci Lynn and Juan Ervin, Carrie Marvene and Terry Ingram, all of Lenoir City, Jennifer Annette and Jimmy Cannon, Elizabeth Danielle and Michael Clark, all of Philadelphia; 9 great grandchildren; brother, David and wife, Rubye Murr, Loudon; sisters, Rella and husband, Alan Bates, Delaware, Connie Barker, Oak Ridge.
Services honoring and remembering Curtis Murr will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 4th, McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, Rev. Richard Everett officiating. Interment 2:00 PM Wednesday in Loudon County Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the US Navy and the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers are members of the Loudon Fire Department. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, Loudon.
