Gerald Crane was the son of George and Beatrice Crane, Sherborne, Dorsetshire.
He was on his way to Duisburg with the Wellington X9700. the goal was the railway yard. On the way there, the aircraft was shot down at Neer Holland. He and four other occupants were killed. Initially he was buried in the German cemetery in Venlo and after the war transferred to the Commonwealth cemetery, Jonkerbos.
