“Death of an Old Citizen. // Mr. A. P. PRYOR died at 1 o’clock yesterday in the upper part of the city, of neuralgia of the heart. Mr. PRYOR was one of the early settlers of Columbus. He was born on the 19th of January 1810, in Milledgeville, Ga., and came to this city about fifty years ago, where he has resided ever since. He was a quiet and unassuming man, but was well informed upon the events of his day and time. He was the father of Mr. Louis PRYOR and brother of Mr. Phil PRYOR. His funeral will take place at 3 o’clock this afternoon from his late residence on upper Troup street [near Washington street].” [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Thursday, 05 APR 1883, p. 4.]

“Funeral of Mr. A. P. PRYOR. // The funeral of Mr. A. P. PRYOR took place from his late residence yesterday afternoon at 8 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. J. H. CAMPBELL, assisted by Rev. A. B. CAMPBELL, and were attended by a large number of the friends of the deceased. The following gentlemen were the pallbearers: Capt. C. A. KLINK, A. L. HARRISON, Joseph BEASLEY, John JOHNSON, John SEALEY and John HOWARD.” [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 06 APR 1883, p. 4.]

Per entry in the Sexton's card file for Linwood Cemetery: A. P. PRYOR died aged 70 years; interred 4-5-1883 in the Old Cemetery section - Sexton Abraham ODOM.

“Pardoned. // Alexander W. PRYOR, of this city, who killed a negro three or four years ago, and was sent to the penitentiary for the same, for ten years, has been pardoned by Governor COLQUITT. His father, Mr. Pink PRYOR, sent one of the best petitions to the Governor ever gotten up for such a purpose. The old gentleman made it a special object to have none on the list save men who stood high in the community, that such an instrument might have the more weight. This is certainly a great relief to the family, relatives and connections.” [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 26 OCT 1877, p. 4. Note: Alexander PRYOR married 24 OCT 1881 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Rachael KENT.]
