Fr. Bartholomew Kestell, O.f.M.AP., 72, a resident of St. Lawrence Friary of Mount Calvary, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1991, at the Friary, after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 25, 1919, in Elkhart Lake, a son of the late Arthur and Anna Klein Kestell.

He entered the Capuchin Order in 1941 and was ordained a priest in 1949. He attended the Catholic University in Washington D.C. and the School of Architecture, and served for over 18 years in the mission, part of that time in the country of Bahrain.
He is known for the wooden inlays and also for his puppet, Oscar.
He is survived by five sisters, Mary Wilson of Pittsburgh, Penn.; Isabelle Zohlan of Kenosha; Agnes Mueurer of Milwaukee; Lucille Piper of Chicago and Catherine Ettlie, of Franklin; two brothers, Don Kestell of New Holstein and Charles Kestell of Racine.

A funeral Mass was held Friday at the chapel. The Rev. Ken Reinhart, Provincial, officiated. Burial will be in Friary Cemetery, Mount Calvary.
