Mr. Achuff, 80, of University City, died Friday at Barnes Hospital. A heart attack is believed to be the cause of death.
A 1925 graduate of Soldan High School, Mr. Achuff joined Achuff Railroad Supply about 1927 as a vice president. The company, which was in the 5600 block of Manchester Road, had been founded by his father, Walter D. Achuff, two years earlier.
The company provided railroads with supplies for tracks.
Mr. Achuff became president of the company when his father died in 1938.
He retired in 1973.
He was a member of the St. Louis Rotary Club and the Missouri Athletic Club and had been active in the University United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jeannette Achuff of University City; a son, Dr. Steven Achuff of Baltimore; a sister, Dorothy Kelley of Manchester; and a brother, Charles E. Achuff of Cleveland.
