"DEATH OF MRS DALRYMPLE - Spartansburg, Jan 27 - Funeral services in memory of Mrs Betsy Jane Dalrymple were conducted from her late home in this village on Sunday, January 26 at 2:30 pm, when a large number of neighbors and friends gathered to pay tribute to her memory. Rev W L Updegraff officiated and hymns were sung by Mrs C E Freeman and Mrs O M Thompson. There were numerous beautiful floral tributes and the interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery, the following acting as pall-bearers: W E Rice, Lenn Morris, George H Davis, T E Bradley, W R Beemis and J H Halfast. Mrs Dalrymple was the daughter of Stephen and Almeda Atherton and was born in Athens township on April 27, 1848. On September 11, 1866, she was united in marriage with Orlin J Dalrymple, who passed away a number of years ago. She is survived by two sons, Cliff O Dalrymple of Los Angeles, Cal, and Roy A Dalrymple at home, and the following brothers and sisters: S E Atherton of Titusville, Mrs B F Van Tassel of Riceville, A A Atherton of Kennerdell and H D Atherton of Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Adventist church at East Branch for many years. Devoted to Her Family - Mrs Dalrymple represented a high type of Christian womanhood, and possessed the rare gift not only of making friends but of retaining their friendship, never speaking ill of anyone but rather kindly words and deeds. The kind solicitude and many acts of kindness showed better than words the high esteem in which she was held in the community where she has made her home for so many years. Her devotion to her home and family was an outstanding characteristic, and their love for her was shown most emphatically during her illness, the son Roy, with whom she lived, prefering to hire help in his business and put the care of his mother first, and the kind loving attention and care given by his wife helped to prolong her life and make her comfortable and happy. The son residing in California was permitted to spend a month with her during her illness which added much to her pleasure and comfort."
