Roy Dean Bailey, 66, of Marietta, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at Baylor Hospital in Irving, Texas. He was born March 25, 1936, in Gate, Oklahoma, to Warren and Mary Bailey.

He graduated from Gate High School in 1954 where he excelled in many sports, particularly basketball. After graduation, Roy joined the Army and spent time in Okinawa, Japan and Washington, D.C., where he was a radio operator for the National Security Agency. He married Bonnie Rizley on February 20, 1961, in Rogers, Arkansas. After completing a four-year apprenticeship program at US Steel in Gary, Indiana, Roy became a trade Machinist. His trade also took him to Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, and Boeing in Seattle, Washington, before he and Bonnie settled in Dallas, Texas, where he worked for many years at LT V. After retiring from LTV, Roy and Bonnie moved to Marietta, Oklahoma, close to Lake Murray, where he enjoyed many hours of boating, fishing, tending to his vegetable garden and spending time with his family. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed history and politics. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie; one Sister, Irene Gray; and two Brothers, Barney Bailey and Vernon Bailey.

He is survived by a daughter; one brother; and one sister; one grandson; and a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Marietta, Okla.
