Lawrence Charlie "Speck" Bailey, age 78, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at his residence in Liberal.

He was born on February 6, 1931 at Gate, OK the son of Warren H. and Mary E. (Carrico) Bailey.  He graduated Gate High School Gate, Oklahoma.

He has been a Liberal resident for the past ten years.

He had been employed as a riveter for Boeing Aircraft for many years.
 
He was a member of the Forgan United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans and Forgan Lions Club.

He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955.

On June 2, 1956 he married Helen Beatrice Francis.  She survives. He is survived by son; Michael W. Bailey and wife Peggy of Liberal, Kansas; daughter, Sharon Kay Bates of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister; Carol Rizley and husband Clifford of Rogers, Arkansas and 4 Grandchildren  6 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Barney, Vernon, and Roy Bailey and sister; Irene Gray.
 
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Forgan, Oklahoma with Reverend Al Scifrices and Reverend Timothy Heemstra presiding.  Burial will be at Gate Cemetery, Gate, Oklahoma with Military Honors by the US Air force. Visitation will be 9 am to 8 pm Wednesday with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 pm Wed. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or United Methodist Church, Forgan, OK, or donor's choice in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS  67901.
