Mrs. Ottis Hayes Jackson Smith

Services for Mrs. Ottis Hayes Jackson Smith will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Null and Rev. David Chandler officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be held at East Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarke County. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, age 87, was called home on November 8, 2014 at James T. Champion Nursing Home, Meridian. Mrs. Smith was born October 7, 1927 in Quitman, MS. She was a member of First Assembly of Meridian. She was a loving wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Ottis was the ninth of eleven children. She was a retired nurse with many years spent at Rush Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry J. White; a step son, Billy Smith (Sandra), step daughter, Debbie Smith Eggleston (David); Grandchildren, Duane White (Chrissy), Danny White, Brian Smith, Susan Smith (Rick), Jonathan Eggleston; Great Grandchildren, Leslie and Justin White; Sisters, Marie Lucas, Ruby Long, and Selma Schrimpshire; Brother, Franklin Hayes (Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul L. Jackson and Robert “Bobby” Smith; her parents, David “Guy” and Ruby Hayes; and six siblings.

Pallbearers will be Almond “Sonny” Hayes, Jr., C. W. McLemore, Charlie Woodall, Paul Simms, Lee Kennedy, and Bro. David Monasco. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class of First Assembly.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to First Assembly of Meridian, 1929 Hwy 19 N, Meridian, MS 39307; or Pine Forest Baptist Church, 10031 West Lauderdale Road, Collinsville, MS 39325; or charity of choice.
