WEST RUTLAND — Joan Marie Briggs, 71, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014, at Rutland Regional Medical Center with her friends by her side.
She was born on March 26, 1943, in Bellows Falls, VT, the daughter of Herbert and Betty (Ross) Briggs.
She was adopted and raised by her grandparents Edwin and Ruth Briggs. She was raised and went to school in Shrewsbury and lived most of her life in the Rutland area.
Joan was employed in her later years by RAVNA & Hospice as a homecare provider. She took great enjoyment in caring for others as her job and for everyone she knew on a daily basis. She will be missed.
Joan is survived by her beloved cat and companion, Tommy, brothers, aunts, cousins and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her son David Paul, her parents, grandparents and 2 sisters.
A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on November 22, 2014, at 11 a.m., at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to Rutland Health Foundation, RAVNA & Hospice, 435 West Street, Rutland, VT 05701 or the charity of one’s choice.
