BIO
(By Gale Boetius Perez, Find a Grave Contributor 47724849 and her great-great granddaughter)

Andrea was born July 11, 1826 in Elverum, Hedmark, Norway, to Hans Jensen and Olia Hansdatter.

Andrea married Engebret Olsen October 28, 1853, in Elverum, Hedmark, Norway. The couple had the following children, all of whom were born at the farm Gammelmoen (except Otto, who was born at Skjærbæk, where Andrea and Hans lodged after leaving Gammelmoen):

OLUF
Oluf was born and christened May 28, 1853. He emigrated to the United States, arriving in Philadelphia May 24, 1882, on the SS Indiana. On October 30, 1884, he filed a Statement of Intent to naturalize in Shawano County, Wisconsin. An "Olif Engebrightsen" is recorded as becoming a U.S. citizen on March 30, 1885, perhaps that is his record. Oluf went back to Norway sometime before October 1887, and returned to the United States with his unmarried sister Oline and Oline's three-month old son Einar Louis on the SS Geiser on October 14, 1887. The passenger list states Oluf was already a U.S. citizen. His whereabouts after this point are at this point unknown.

MARTHEA
Marthea was born December 28, 1856, at Gammelmoen and was christened February 25, 1857. Marthea married Anton Berg in 1889 at the Berg family farm. They had seven children. Marthea died in 1932.

OLINE
Oline was born December 15, 1859 at Gammelmoen, and was christened March 18, 1860. Please see Oline's biography by following her link, below.

HANS
Hans was born May 20, 1861 at Gammelmoen, and was christened September 29, 1861. In 1874, four years after both parents died, Hans was staying in the Kjærneby household.

EMIL
Emil was born March 6, 1863 at Gammelmoen, and was christened June 2, 1863. In 1874, four years after both parents died, Emil was staying with the Korsveibakken household. Emil married Juline Gundersdatter October 28, 1892, in Elverum. They moved to Nedre Solberg, Løten, Norway. Their four sons (Einar, Eivind, Jørgen and Ottar) and two daughters (Manghild and Gunda), all surnamed Emilsen, were all born there.

OTTO
Otto was born May 4, 1870 at Skjærbæk and christened September 11, 1870. His mother died 11 days after he was christened. Otto was living on the farm Lille Finstad when he was confirmed at 15 (October 18, 1885). Four years later, he sailed for America on October 18, 1889, with his intended destination being the same as his siblings Oluf and Oline (Shawano County, Wisconsin).

Andrea died in 1870 at the age of 44. Her death was recorded in Entry 70, Kildeinformasjon: Hedmark fylke, Elverum, Klokkerbok nr. 4 (1866-1874), Døde og begravede 1870, side 204. https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/9171/191

Andrea's death record reads, "Inderstkone Andrea Hansd." The family was lodging at Skjærbæk at the time of her death, but the place of residence on her death record was Gammelmoen.

Engebret died six months after Andrea, leaving their seven children ranging in age from 17 to newborn without parents. His death record says that he was Enkemand (a widower) and Inderst (a renter).

Andrea's grave is not marked. In Norway, graves are maintained for 20 years, and then the next of kin decides whether they will pay for the grave site. If the next of kin opts not to, the headstone is removed, and the site can be re-used. Any remains are buried in the bottom of the new grave. Often, descendants are buried in the same site and their names added to the headstone.
