Anton Leonhardt, 88, who had been a farmer and stockman living south of Hays on Highway 183 for 69 years, died early this morning at St. Anthony Hospital after a week illness.

He is survived by one daughter, Eleanora of the home; two sons, Peter of the home, and Henry of Topeka; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva of Hays.

He was predeceased by his wife, his parents and a son, Francis who died in 1965; three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Leonhardt who was born at St. Marys, Kansas, Nov. 26, 1879 came to Hays with his parents in 1898.

He was married to Pauline Walters in 1914. She died in 1943.

Funeral services will be at St. Joseph’s Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Friends may call at Mall’s Mortuary Chapel until the funeral hour.

Anton Leonhardt was a kindly, friendly person who had many friends in Hays as well as the rural community where he lived.
