Emanuel “Mike” Bates, of North Little Rock passed away on September 29th, 2014. He was born on August 25, 1933 in Aliquippa, PA to the late Michael and Nora Bates. Mike was an Air Force veteran, a master plumber and HVAC contractor.

He worked at many mechanical contracting companies in Little Rock. A lifetime member of ASHRAE, he started his own business in 1983, Sunbelt Mechanical. For over 25 years, he contracted all the mechanical work for Dillard’s Department Stores across the country. He was dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church and served on the building committee.

Pop as he was known to his family, was a generous prankster with a thirst for knowledge. He enjoyed golfing with the family, fishing with his grandkids and smoking cigars with his grandsons. He spent time watching old movies, going to the Lake House, hitting golf balls into the lake, vacations at the beach and Baltimore. He instilled his excellent work ethic into his family. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory his wife of over 57 years, Patsy Bryant Bates of North Little Rock; his children Ginger Bates White and her husband Terry of Little Rock and Michael Steven Bates of North Little Rock; his siblings, Emily Koulepis, Sam Bates, Mary Cross, Esther (Robert) Williams, all of Baltimore, MD; his grandchildren Gable Patrick White of Little Rock, Jesse Michael Bates of Nashville, TN, Skylar David White of New York, NY and Josie Ariana Bates of North Little Rock and host of extended family and friends, too many to list but not forgotten.
