Mrs. Bielby Passes Away in Hospital
Rhoda Vorce Bielby, wife of Howard N. Bielby, 110 Ft. Stanwix Park, North, passed away in Rome hospital Friday afternoon at 4:25. She had been ill for the past year and a patient at the hospital since the middle of last April.
Mrs. Bielby was born in Corry, Pa., on Jan 31, 1885, daughter of Thomas and Minnie A. Dias Vorce. She came to Rome with her parents when a small child and received her education in the Rome schools.
After completing her education she became a telephone operator in the Home Telephone Co. office Rome and later with the Bell Telephone System. She had also been employed in the business office of the New York Telephone Co.
On June 3, 1908, in Rome she was united in marriage with Howard N. Bielby of Rome, the ceremony having been performed by the Rev. Alfred E. Alton, D. D., then pastor of the First Baptist Church. Since their marriage the couple always lived in Rome. Mrs. Bielby was a seamstress, working in her own home.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Ernest V. Bielby, and three grandchildren, Gail J., Robert E. and Pamela R. Bielby, all of Rome.
Mrs. Bielby was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Root Philathea Class of that church. She was also a member and a past matron of Wanaka Chapter, OES.
Funeral services will be held at the Waldo Wiggins Prince Home for Funerals on Monday afternoon at 2 and the interment made in Wright Settlement Cemetery. Friends may call at the home for funeral on Saturday evening from 7 to 9 and on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 top 9 o'clock.
