March 23--Since my last, death has been among us again, taking from our midst our old friend and neighbor, Benjamin Lyon. He died Wednesday morning of last week at the home of his son, C. C. Lyon, with whom he had been making his home for some time. He was sick about six days, succumbing in that time to the ravages of the grip. After three days illness a dispatch was sent to his son, Arnold, at Moscow, Idaho, who started east at once, but did not arrive until four days after his father's death. The body, however, was kept until his arrival, the funeral services being conducted by Rev Clark at the home of C. C. Lyon last Monday at 10 a.m. The discourse was earnest and practical and full of tenderness. He was then laid to rest in a beautiful spot selected by the family on the old homestead formerly owned by him. His children were all present at the funeral services, except a son, Benjamin, who lives in Washington state.
