Mrs. Mary Martha Whitaker, 83, widow of H.F. Whitaker, died at her home at 406 Saggasser St. last Wednesday following an illness of several months.

A lifelong resident of this county, Mrs. Whitaker was born Aug. 3, 1870, the daughter of the late James H. and Matilda Randall Parkey. She married Mr. Whitaker in 1888 and 11 children were born to this union. Mr. Whitaker and two children preceded her in death.

A member of the Clifty Grove Baptist Church for many years, she devoted her life to the work of her church and the happiness and security of her family. The many friends she made on her journey through life are deeply grieved at her death.

Mrs. Whitaker is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Masie Hessy, Somerset, Mrs. Ida McIntire, Squib, Ada Whitaker, Lockland, Ohio, Mrs. Matilda Harris, Acorn, Mrs. Margaret Staroszik, Indiana, and Mrs. Dela Nicely, Sharonville, Ohio; three sons, Harvey Whitaker and John Whitaker, both of Indiana, and Oscar Whitaker, Somerset.

Mrs. Whitaker is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Ellen Adams, Ano, Mrs. Lizzie Russell, Dahl, and Mrs. Meldia Bullock, Somerset; one brother, Randall Parkey, Oklahoma, 61 grandchildren; and 63 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Clifty Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Bert Whitaker and the Rev. Lloyd Sewell conducted the services. Burial was in the Clifty Grove cemetery.
