Gunder J. Severson, one of the oldest residents of Winneshiek county, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 1923, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helena Arneson, two and a half miles east of Sattre. Death was due to old age.

The deceased was born in Norway 86 years ago. He came to the United States in 1851, spent three years in Wisconsin, and then came to this county, where he has since made his home. His wife died years ago. He is survived by the following children, Henry J. Severson, of Decorah, Mrs. Helena Arneson of Sattre, Ole J. Severson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Julia Carlson of Decorah. One daughter, Mrs. Sophia Mott, died in Decorah several years ago. One sister, Miss Julia Severson of Decorah, and two brothers, Amon and Asle Severson of Decorah, survive.
