OBITUARY: ELLEN HOGAN
A short illness was followed by the passing of Ellen Hogan at her home in Douro,Lot 14,Concession 2,early Thursday. She was in her 62nd year. Daughter of the late Thomas Hogan and Mary Brick,she spent almost her entire life in Douro. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church,Douro,and an active worker in the Altar Society. For many years she served actively as a nurse. Surviving are one brother,Albert Hogan of Barrie,and two sisters,Sister Mary Berchmans of St. Vincent's Orphanage,and Mrs. P.J. McMurray of Douro,with whom she had been residing. The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Douro home to St. Joseph's Church and to St. Joseph's Cemetery.

OBITUARY: MISS ELLEN HOGAN
DOURO,Oct. 6 - Following a week's illness from heart trouble,there passed away at the home of her sister,Mrs. P.J. McMurray,Douro,on Oct. 1,Miss Ellen Hogan,daughter of the late Thomas Hogan and Mary Brick,at the age of sixty-two years. The late Miss Hogan had for the last several years resided in London,Ont. She is survived by two sisters,Sister M. Berchman,of St. Vincent's Orphanage,Peterborough,and Mrs. P.J. McMurray,Douro,and a brother,Albert Hogan,a foreman of the Bell Telephone Co.,Barrie. The funeral took place Saturday morning from the home of Mrs. McMurray on the Second line to St. Joseph's Church and Cemetery. A solemn Requiem Mass was sung by Rev. Father Perdue,of Toronto,a cousin of the deceased. Another cousin,Rev. Father McAuliffe,of the Chinese Mission Seminary,Scarboro,was deacon, and Rev. Father Welch as sub-deacon. Present in the sanctuary was Rev. Father McGuire, pastor. Rev. Father Welch preached a very consoling sermon,using the text, "Watch and pray,for you know not the day nor the hour." The pallbearers were: Messrs. William Hayes, William Whibbs,Victor Kennedy,Edward Allen,Thomas Whibbs,Sixth line,and John Perdue,of Peterborough. Among the floral offerings were wreaths from the Bell Telephone Co.,Barrie; Women's Institute,Barrie,and baskets of roses from the Fall Fair committee,Barrie,and the Lord Kitchener Nursing Division,London. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Perdue and son,Alvin,Mrs. Neil Murray,Mrs. Percy Lucas and children,of Downeyville; Mr. and Mrs. Simon Perdue,Mr. John Perdue,Mr. and Mrs. James Guiry,Mrs. William Duffus,Mr. and Mrs. Kirn,all of Peterborough; Messrs. William and John Brick,of Ennismore; Mrs. Thomas Cavanagh,of Bancroft.
