MARSHALL -- Services for Percy Hook, 82, of Canby will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rehkamp Funeral Home in Minneota with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery. Mr. Hook died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the Hendricks hospital.
Percy Raymond Hook was born May 25, 1915, in Amiret Township of Lyon County, to George and Ella (Gerholt) Hook. He attended country school. On March 17, 1938, he and Violet Gilb were married in Brookings, S.D. After their marriage, the couple worked on his parents' farm and then farmed near Walnut Grove and Tracy. He was baptized and confirmed April 2, 1944, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tracy. Then he left farming and operated Standard service stations in Hutchinson, Willmar and Redwood Falls. Later, he resumed farming near Gary, S.D. He was a collector of sait and pepper shakers, spoons, cups, saucers and antiques, and he enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sandy Hauger of Canby; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bert of Redwood Falls and Leslie of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two sisters and one brother.
