WALNUT GROVE — Services for Hazel Mae Ernst, 77, of rural Walnut Grove will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Tracy Cemetery. Visitation at the Butson-Jacobson Funeral Home in Walnut Grove will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with a family prayer service at 8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There also will be visitation one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
Mrs. Ernst died Saturday at her home.
On Feb. 26, 1910, she was born near Tracy to George and Ellen Hook. In 1929, she graduated from Tracy High School. Earl Edward Ernst and she were married Nov. 15, 1939. They resided with her parents for one year, and then moved to a farm near Gary, S.D. One and one-half years later, they moved to their farm near Walnut Grove. She was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and had served as president, secretary and treasurer of its United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Gales Neighborhood Club and the Tracy Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughters, Bonnie (Mrs. Joseph) Spoke of Waterloo, Wis., and Marjorie (Mrs. Neil) Johnson of Walnut Grove; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and brothers, Bert of Tracy, Leslie of McMinnville, Ore., and Percy of Canby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister.
