*Isaac Ellison, aged 58 years, died late Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter Mrs. William Smith at 1125 East Front street. He had been suffering from cancer for a long time but was seriously sick only a few days. Mr. Ellison was born in Going (sic), Tennessee, in 1873 and continued to live on a farm there until 1917 when he came to Monroe. He has five daughters and four sons, most of whom live in Monroe. The daughters are Mrs. Smith, with whom he made his home, Mrs. Emily Thompson of 810 East Noble avenue, Mrs. Roscoe Parker of 464 Michigan avenue and Mrs. J.G. Pierce of 1109 East Front street. The sons are William and Berry Ellison of 216 West Seventh street, J.G. Ellison of 611 East Second street and John Ellison of Going (sic), Tennessee. The body was taken to the Mulholland funeral home and will be removed this afternoon to the home of Mrs. Thompson on Noble Avenue. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. (MEN, Aug. 1, 1931)

Note: There are several discrepancies for Isaac's birthdate, census records and birthdates at the time, are different from what is on the marker. Obituary has 1873. March 1859 as the birthdate, may be nearest to the correct date. (Lo Marie)
