Rebecca was the daughter of Robert and Mahala (Judy) Johnson and was this contributor's great great grandmother. Since West Virginia did not exist at the time of Rebecca's birth it is assumed that she was born in in the part of Virginia that later became West Virginia. On December 27, 1860 in Pendleton County, Virginia (now West Virginia) she became the wife of Isaac Alt and they became the parents of fourteen children; Emily J. Alt; Savanna Bell Alt; Charles Adam Alt; John R. Alt; Isaac Sherman Alt; Jacob Clarence Alt; Dessie G. Alt; Sallie Alt; Minnie Alt; Mary Susan (E.) Alt; Anna Lydia Alt [this contributors great grandmother]; Zachariah Filmore Alt; Mahala A. Alt and Isaac S. Alt.
Assuming that the date of birth for Rebecca is accurate as shown WITHIN this record, she was 80 years, 4 months, and 6 days of age when she died.

Some reports give Rebecca's date/place of birth as 16 Oct 1842 in Smoke Hole, Pendleton Co., VA/WVA. In 1910, Rebecca, by then widowed, was living with her son Jacob in Mill Run, Pendleton Co., WV. She died at the home of her son John, In Brushy Run, Pendleton County, West Virginia.
