At the time of the 1920 Census, George was almost 19 and was still living with his grandparents. At that time, his grandfather was a librarian with the 3rd Avenue Railroad and George was a switchman with the same railroad. George married Jane Veronica Berrian née Simms 10 July 1924 in Church of St. Aloysius, 219 West 132nd Street, New York, New York 10027-7803 in Harlem.
For 1930 Census (17 April 1930), George (28) and Jane (24) were married for about 6 years and rented a home at 101 Pilot Street, Bronx, New York 10464-1662 on City Island. They had 2 boys - George Rudolph Berrian/George R. Berrian/George Berrian (later Brother George Rudolph Berrian/Brother George Berrian, FSC "The Dome") age 4 years 6 months, born 12 September 1925 and Thomas Patrick age 3 years 1 month, born 27 March 1927. The family had two lodgers who live with them: Robert Burton, 33 - occupation, painter at the shipyard and Henry Jones, 21 - occupation ship builder. At this time George Maurice was a chauffeur of a taxi cab. George and Jane later had a third son named Edwin Joseph Berrian (1931-2016).
