Mrs. Charles Neuser, 79, lifelong resident of the city and county, died
unexpectedly Sunday morning at the Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc,
where she has resided the past two years. Death was due to a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pfeffer Funeral
Home, Manitowoc and at 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Clement Kern will officiate and burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Clara Backhaus Oct. 14, 1879 at Silver Lake, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Backhaus. On Oct. 23, 1902 she was
married to Charles Neuser and they located on a farm near Silver Lake.
They moved to Manitowoc in 1926. The couple observed their golden
wedding in 1952. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the St.
Paul congregation.
Surviving are the husband; three daughters, Mrs. Matt Benzschawel and
Mrs. Stanley Kattner of Manitowoc, Mrs. Steve Chowe of Alexandria,
Va.; three sons, Reinold of Benton Harbor, Mich., Adolph of Manitowoc,
Charles of Moline, Ill.; 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at
7 p.m. Monday.
