National Hot Rod Association Legend. A driver, tuner, fabricator and innovator, Dale Armstrong started racing in 1957 in his native Canada. To be able to race more often he moved to California in 1965. In the 1970's he won 12 National Hot Rod Association events in the Pro Comp, Top Alcohol Funny Car and Top Alcohol Dragster, and Nitro Funny Car classes. In 1982 Armstrong became the Crew Chief for Kenny Bernsteins's racing team and tuned the team to four consecutive national Top Fuel Funny Car championships. In 1992 he tuned Bernstein's Top Fuel Dragster to the first ever 300+ miles per hour run. Armstrong left the Bernstein team in 1997 after winning 48 national events and 4 national championships. Armstrong was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1995, the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2010.
