Aged Resident Succumbs Here
Mrs. Indiana Cummins, 83 years of age, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Brower, of 803 North State street, at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. The aged woman had been in ill health for a number of years.
Mrs. Cummins was well known and highly respected in this part of the state where she had lived most of her life. She was the widow of John Cummins, a Civil War veteran*. (* see note below) She was a member of the Ben Hur Lodge and of the Sandborn Baptist church. She was the daughter of James Jarrell and Elizabeth Thomas.
Surviving Mrs. Cummins are three children, Mrs. Brower, Mrs. Maud Cleveland of Linton, route 2 and C.A. Turnmire of Lancaster, California.
The body was taken to the Newkirk Funeral Home and prepared for burial. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Baptist church, north of Sandborn, Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Osborn, of Bicknell, will officiate. Interment will be made at Bethel cemetery.
*NOTE: John W. Cummins was not in the Civil War. Indiana's first husband, Lee David Turnmire was a Civil War veteran.
