William Ladd, a son of William and Sarah [née Gardner] Ladd, was born in the bounds of Little Compton near Newport, Rhode Island on the 13th of August 1767. He married Miss Mary Haskins on the 7th of November 1793 in Boston, Massachusetts. Mary was a linage descendant of Gov. John Carver; who came to America aboard the Mayflower in 1620 and the first governor of Plymouth Colony.

William Ladd, II departed this life on August 30th 1830 in the 63rd year of his age. He was laid to rest in Trinity Churchyard cemetery and re-interred in Mount Auburn Cemetery after The Great Boston Fire of November 1872 destroyed the Trinity Church.
