Rock Musician. A keyboardist, he was a member of the British rock ensemble "The Small Faces." Born Ian William Patrick McLagan, he was already an experienced musician by his late teens, when he formed his first band "The Muleskinners." He went on to join the "Boz People" led by future King Crimson and Bad Company member Boz Burrell. In 1965, he replaced Jimmy Winston in "The Small Faces." Fronted by Steve Marriott, they are best known for their hit single "Itchycoo Park" (1967) which earned a number 16 pop chart placing. After Marriott left in 1969, Rod Stewart replaced him as lead singer and the group changed their name to "The Faces." In 1971, the scored a hit with the single "Stay With Me" (1972) which achieved a number 17 placing on the Billboard Charts. After the group disbanded in 1975, he worked with numerous artists including Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Bruce Springsteen. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of "The Small Faces" in 2012. He died of complications from a stroke.
