Barbara Burritt Milne, 86, of Normal, Illinois, died peacefully at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 2, 2014, at a private skilled care home in Rancho Mirage, California.

Barbara was born Oct. 30, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of Dorothy and Henry W. Burritt. She graduated from Endicott Junior College on June 21, 1948.

After graduation, Barb, along with her family, moved to Bloomington, where she lived until June 1968.

Barbara married Richard R. Anderson on April 2, 1949. Later, she married Thomas D. Milne on June 22, 1968. Barb and Tom spent many happy years together living in Lake Bluff; Stuttgart, Germany; and Marietta, Ga. Tom died on March 24, 1984. She moved back to Normal in 2006 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.

Barbara loved all sports and was especially passionate about playing competitive tennis. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge, going to the theater and seeing how many baseball parks she could visit!

Surviving are her two children, Wendy (Kurt) Zimmer and Reed Anderson; three grandchildren, Austin (Beth) Zimmer, Ryan Zimmer and Courtney (Josh) Goodman and four great-grandchildren.
