Clarence attended school through the 8th grade and helped on the family farm. When Clarence was 13, his older brother Miles (age 14) died when Miles’ rifle discharged after falling to the floor of the buggy he was driving. When he was 16, two of Clarence’s younger siblings, Ada (age 2) and James (10 months), would also perish in Albany.
Still single at age 25, Clarence worked as a machinist at International Harvester while living as a boarder in Rock Island. At age 29 he married Mary Eleanor Burns on June 23, 1934, in Albany, Illinois. The wedding was held in the home of her parents Amos and Nellie Parker. Clarence and Mary had four children in 12 years:
1) Wayne Clarence Anglese b.1935
2) James L Anglese b.1937
3) Karen Sue Anglese b.1945 – d.2010
4) Gary Brent Anglese b.1947
Clarence and Mary lived for four years in Rock Island until, around 1940 at age 35, he firmly settled the family on Main Street in Albany Village. They were faithful members of the Albany United Methodist Church. Clarence retired from the Farmall plant of International Harvester, Moline, in 1966. Clarence died on October 17, 1994, in Albany, Whiteside, Illinois, at the age of 89, and was buried at Lusk Memorial Cemetery.
