Mary A. Davis wife of C.E. Davis died at her home 4 miles north of this city, Aug 9, 1900. Her maiden name was Harman. She was 51 years 6 months and 21 days old. She married to C. E. Davis Dec 28, 1876. They were blessed three children all of whom are living and with the husband mourn the loss of a kind and devoted wife and mother. She leaves 6 brothers and 3 sisters to mourn for her.
She was not a member of any local church but was a Baptist in belief and lived circumspectly. She was recognized by all that knew her as a good woman. The large attendance her funeral attest in high esteem in which she was held. She had been a great and constant sufferer during the last 14 months of her life and while it was had for her husband and children to part with her, yet death came as a relief to her.
The funeral was from the family residence at 10 o'clock Aug 10, T.A. Renfro of this place preaching. The internment was in Edmundson Cemetery. That the Lord may comfort the hearts of the husband and children in loneliness and sorrow, is wish of the entire Community.

She was the daughter of John & Hannah Stephens Harman who are buried in Oak Point Cemetery
