Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Tuesday, August 15, 1950, page 2:
  August Pauketat of Glen Carbon, a retired coal miner, died Sunday night at St. Elizabeth hospital in Granite City after a brief illness.
  He was born Jan. 20, 1874, in Germany and had attained the age of 76 years, six months and 23 days. He was married to Miss Minna Rodmann Nov. 2, 1897 in Essen, Germany. She preceded him in death in April 5, 1927.
  He is survived by one son, Irvin Pauketat of Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, William J. Eickmann and Mrs. Joseph Bouse of this city and Mrs. John Gartner of Woodcliffe, N.J.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death.
  The body may be viewed at the Marks-Weber funeral home after 12 noon Wednesday until Thursday noon when the body will be taken to the Eden Evangelical church to lie in state until 2 o'clock when services will be held with the Rev. H.J. Bredehoeft officiating.
  Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
