William Fulenwider was the youngest of four sons born to John Jacob Fullenwider. He married Martha E. Hayes 18 Sept 1826 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Between 1827 and 1845 they had nine children, seven boys and two daughters in North Carolina.

William Fulenwider had land holdings in several Alabama counties. In 1852 he sold his Etowah county properties, , when his son John began farming in Cherokee. By 1860 William was living in Division 1, Cherokee, Alabama, along with his wife and four youngest children and next door to John Alponso and his family. William does not appear on the 1870 census though his wife is then living with Albert Leroy for two more census counts.

William likely died between 1860 and 1870.
