Audra "Herchell" Allison, 100, of Nitro, passed away Tuesday, November 23, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in West Liberty, Ohio, where he lived for the last five years. Herchell was born August 2, 1910, to Robert Maxwell and Effie (Bird) Allison. He was retired from American Viscoe Corporation and Cooke Funeral Home in Nitro. He attended the Nitro Church of God for over 50 years, and the Bellefontaine First Church of God for the last five years. Herchell was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Craig Allison; his parents; one son; one daughter; two brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Plank (Allen) of West Liberty, Ohio; sons, Glendon Allison (Judy) of Cookeville, Tenn., Ernie Allison (Murlena) of Nitro, Clayton Allison of Laurel, Miss., Donald Vaughan (Juanita) of Plant City, Fla., and Ronald Vaughan (Edna) of Phelps, Ky.; sisters, Zayola Covert of Dunbar and Juanita Hudson of Akron, Ohio; nineteen grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, at the Nitro Church of God, 15th St and 2nd Ave., in Nitro, with the Rev. Arley Cravens officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 26 at the church, and also one hour prior to service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nitro Church of God, the Bellefontaine First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave., Bellefontaine, OH. 43311, or to Universal Home Health and Hospice, 701 Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Cooke Funeral Home & Crematorium, Nitro, is in charge of arrangements.
