Sixteen year old Philomena Greene was killed by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) with a booby trap bomb in a vacant house on Mary Street in Lurgan, County Armagh. The house was claimed to have been used by the British Army as an observation post.
She, and her friend Joanne O'Hagan who survived the blast, entered the vacant house because they saw a light on. The house was owned by Joanne's father. The Provisional IRA admitted they planted the bomb.
