Josephine Yancey, age 96, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Saint Joseph Hospital, in Lexington. She was a retired administrative assistant at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Miss Yancey was born in May's Lick, Kentucky, on December 16, 1915, a daughter of the late Hugh and Bessie Peed Yancey. She was a graduate of Transylvania University and a member of May's Lick Baptist Church.

Survivors include: a sister, Dorothy Yancey Sohl, of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Hugh Yancey, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Yancey Claybrooke.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, at May's Lick Cemetery, with Rev. Tony Liess officiating. Memorials are suggested to Mary Love Collins Scholarship Fund, Chi Omega Foundation, 3395 Players Club Parkway, Memphis, Tennessee 38125. Palmer Funeral Home, in May's Lick, is serving the family.
