Athens– Funeral Services for Dorothy Sawyer, 80, of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Pastor Aron Maberry officiating.

Ms. Sawyer passed away on December 22, 2014 in Athens, Texas.

Dorothy Nell Aaron Sawyer was born February 3, 1934 in Athens, Texas the daughter of George Monroe Aaron and Gladys Emma Smiley Aaron. She was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church. She was passionate about her Conway Twitty, George Strait, bingo and casinos. But her true love in life was her family. Her grandbabies were her world. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and she will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband T.A. Sawyer; her parents and two sons in law, Leland Maberry and Gary Ray.

She is survived by her loving children; Barbara Jean Sullivan and husband Mike of Athens, Mary Nell Ashton of Styx, Linda Bell Maberry of Clarksville, Tennessee, Gladys Darlene Clements and husband Allen of Larue, Tommy Leonard Sawyer and wife Charity of Athens; two sisters, Barbara Dell Harris and husband Bill of Athens, Lillie Bell Lackey and husband “Buddy” of Chandler; seventeen grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
