They lived and farmed within three miles of her family home. She was a Baptist.
Her husband; her parents; a grandson, Alan Stokes; three sisters, Martha Spreen, Mathilda Spreen and Clara Ashton; and four brothers, Julius, Walter, Herman and Arthur Lange preceded her in death.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by her sons, Herman Jr. and his wife, Wanda, of Abilene and Henry (Buddy) and his wife, Darlene, of Ballinger; her daughter, Doris White and husband, Don, of Ballinger; eight grandchildren, Gary Stokes of Anson, Pam Smith of Abilene, Kay Tarkenton of Mineral Wells, Diana Hood of Abilene, Donna White and Dedra Marrow, both of Ballinger, Dionn White of Wichita Falls and Dwayne White of Seminole; great-grandchildren, Kristen Stokes, Hubble Smith, Scott Smith, Tamra Smith, Tavisity and Tahnae Tarkenton, Crescenda and Austin Williams, Felicia Cavazos, Morgan Creswell and Hannah White; step
great-grandchildren, Joseph Baird, A.J. Dixon, Wade Hood and Taylor Hood; and great-great-grandchildren, Justin Smith and Colton Curtis. Two brothers, Robert Lange and George Lange and his wife, Geraldine, all of Ballinger also survive her.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
